Ellicottville, New York aka “the Aspen of the east” is a fun village hidden in the hills of Western New York. The town caters to the “adventure seekers” fueled by the two ski resorts, Holiday Valley and Holimont. Over the years the village has developed a vibrant art scene, vibrant shops, great restaurants, wineries, and of course the Ellicottville Brewing Company.
I found a parking spot around the corner on Martha St. The brewery is very comfortable and spacious, and our table had a view of the original brew tanks. Opened in 1995, after the founder witnessed a craft brewery in Vail, Colorado. Pairing old world brewing and the winter ski culture seems like a no brainer now, but back then it was a risk. When your slogan is “Brewed to Entertain” I think success just naturally follows to EBC. I ordered a flight with a mixture of brews. Nut Brown, Blueberry, Plum, and a Porter brews were all delicious. We also ordered some mussels, chips & guacamole, along with some other appetizers.
This is the perfect place to visit after spending the day skiing on Holiday Valley. The atmosphere at EBC, and in Ellicottville is pretty laid back. It can get pretty cold there, but other than that, it’s a great town to walk around in. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area. Cheers!
