7 Pilsner glasses full of lager next to a stack of pretzels

In Ohio, fall and festival are almost synonymous. You cannot go to a small town, in this state, this time of year without tripping over a horde of people attempting to celebrate something. From the Renaissance Fest to the Sauerkraut Festival, Ohioans will find a way to make it a party. Add in the timing of Oktoberfest, and its a marriage made in beer heaven.

Oktoberfest originated in 1810, as a wedding celebration for Crown Prince Ludwig I, and Princess Teresa of Sassonisa-Hildbughausen. Traditionally, the celebration is held for 16 to 18 days from late September to early October. Many cities all of the world join in the festivities and extend the dates in to late October. Ohio is no exception.

So if you are looking for a reason to rock a buffalo check flannel and Ugg boots in 80 degree weather, look no further. Maybe you’re feeling festive and have some Lederhosen in the back of your closet. I have saved you the trouble of a google search and laid out every weekend in October, and its corresponding Oktoberfest all of over the Buckeye state. Many of the gatherings are family friendly beer events, others may be 21 and over.  If you are planning on taking children, I suggest that you make sure little ones are welcome. I hope you are making your pretzel necklaces in bulk this month. Prost!
