February 24, 2015 Millersburg, OH – Back by popular demand, Doc’s Scotch Ale will be on tap this Friday, the 27th along with Lady Justice, a local favorite.

The second release in Millersburg Brewing Company’s Imperial Series, Doc’s pours a light copper color with a slight tan head. Sweet aromas of malt, caramel, and earthy smoke give this a slight fruity character. Clocking in at 9 ABV this Scotch ale has legs to stand on, with a light warming and medium dry finish. The 37 IBU’s are mellowed by the higher finishing gravity of the ale, with little to no hop bitterness detectable in the nose. Light-bodied with smooth alcohol warmth, balances out this wee heavy-style scotch ale. 9.0 ABV/ 37 IBU
This brew was inspired by Dr. John Duncan of Scottish descent. This gentleman graduated in 1904 from The Ohio State University, where he also played football. He returned home to become the beloved resident doctor of Killbuck, for over 50 years. His payments included pies and spirits. He is the great-grandfather of Bill Baker, co-owner of The Millersburg Brewing Company.

Lady Justice Lager A light golden lager that is smooth on the palate, Lady Justice has a slight spicy fruity hop note with a clean malt taste. With very low hop bitterness, the pilsner malt flavors set the pace for this easy drinking German-style Munich Helles Lager. 5.5 ABV/ 15 IBU
This is a salute to Lady Justice, who stands on the second story balcony of the Holmes County Courthouse. She was placed there October 24th in 1885. Her plaque reads “The Goddess of Liberty Balances the Scales of Justice over this Courthouse.” This site can be seen from the front window of the brewery.

We have completed canning our largest batch of Lot 21 Blonde and will be available in the taproom and through our distributors this week.
